Black teas are produced by allowing harvested leaves to wither and oxidize for about 10 to 16 hours before the process is halted by firing the leaf. These leaves are generally graded according to the appearance of the leaves.
REGION OF DARJEELING
Probably one of the most interesting growing regions of the southern slopes of the Himalaya mountains. The tea gardens are located on an altitude of up to 8000 ft. and produce the most exquisite types in the world.

Floral leaves grown near the border of Nepal. These green and silvery tipped leaves offer a soft, mellow taste.
103 A – Autumnal Second Flush – Darjeeling Orthodox – $12.00
After the summer monsoon, shortly before the winter season starts, the sun allows this tea to become fully aromatic but mild.
104 A – Himalayan Blend – Darjeeling – $10.00
A strong even leaf produced during the second flush, which has a fully aromatic flavor and very appealing character.

An “in-between” leaf with a very nice touch of herbal and spicy tones on the palate.
REGION OF ASSAM & NEARBY GROWING REGIONS
The plateau of Assam in the North of India is situated on both sides of the Brahmaputra. These very piquant, strong and malty teas are harvested in approximately 2000 gardens. The color varies between golden-brown and copper-red.

This tea is from a small growing area located west of the more famous Assam region. Produces a well-balanced, quality tea.

Its beautiful leaf catches your eye; even and wiry, with a lot of golden-brown tips.

Bright, full bodied with a nutty flavor close to walnut. This tea is great by itself – no additives necessary.

Modeled on the former Georgian tea. This “Russian Tea” came from China via old trade routes.

A tea with a very old tradition, from the Dutch-East-Indian company of 1602. Based out of the Batavia. A nutty flavor.

Musty with an earthy character that is often described as old or elemental. Infusion is complex dark and black.
